So, we started our new Amethyst campaign today. (We aren't precisely canon, with one character being a tiefling ninja, but I figure where there are half-demon, tieflings can follow.)

At any rate, our ninja is fast, but either clumsy or blind as a bat. He got great rolls for initiative, winng initiative most every time, even though he's not got the highest bonus in the group. But, he can't hit a thing. Out of perhaps a dozen attacks, he hit once. The gimfen bandit he was fighting escaped.

We also have a tenebri mage, played by a player new to DnD. She made quite a good showing, despite being set on fire by one of the gimfen bandits. She caught her bandit, knocking him out of the tree he was Spider Climbing up to escape with a well placed Acid Splash.

And the last character, a techan Faceman who was an actor in one of the bastions until he refused to act in a propoganda film, made a mediocre showing. He did wound his bandit, but the culprit managed to escape.

So they caught one, and turned him in for a nice reward, but his two brothers are going to be back looking for revenge.

You using 3.5 or 4.0?

In our current game, which I will be posting about soon, has a Tenenbri mage as well (using the 4.0 rules). Our comic relief comes from a Narros ranger named Gissepe (sigh) that has a hit rate of about 35%.

Can't wait to hear more.

3.5, I prefer the way they handle wizards in that version over 4.0. :)

The group picked up another member, a teenage urchin named Serenity. She is a fairly decent fighter with her zwiehander, despite it being as big as she is. The ninja decided to challenge her to a sparring match to judge if she had any skill at all, and managed to get knocked out for his trouble.

Our ninja continues to suck. :P

He has maintained the same hit rate, but now has added doing minimum damage every time he does actually hit as well. (He even managed a critical hit once, but still did only 2 damage.)

He did manage to save the entire party's bacon while they were fighting a swamp mummy. The mummy had knocked out all the other members of the party, who had worn him down to 1 hp, after about 4 swings, the ninja managed to knock off that last point.

The tenebri caught mummy rot, but the town priest managed to set that to rights.

They also confronted the mummy's murderers, though said murderers managed to escape after a brief fight.

Our group is collecting enemies left and right, if they all get together we're in trouble.

We've been exploring the wilderness. Our ninja has decided to (for the most part) dispense with his weapons and fight unarmed. Surprisingly, this has improved his fighting immensely.

We were in a cave inhabited by mites (think evil smurfs and you are not far off), which was tight quarters, and had lots of roots hanging down from the low ceilings. Our intrepid ninja, remembering a vial of alchemist's fire he had found previously suggested we use it to burn the mites out of the caves.

The other PCs quickly vetoed that, pointing out that 1) he was likely to set the roots, and by extension us, on fire and that 2) should we escape the ensuing inferno, we would lose the very item we entered the mite lair to find.

His response: "It was just a suggestion!"

Solomon assured him that being set on fire once in your lifetime, was already one time too many.

Our group got a charter to civilize the wilderness, and have started a barony there, along with building a village.

Nopate, who is the new Barony's taxmaster had been hinting strongly since starting the village that we should build a brothel. Illiamace, who is the ruler of the barony and thus is now a Baroness, finally relented.

Well, a huge owlbear attacked the village while they were off hunting trolls, and destroyed two blocks of buildings, which, of course, included the brothel. This completely outraged Noapte, who all but demanded we hunt the beast down just for that sacrilege.

The owlbear was a very tough fight, with Solomon and Serenity both nearly dying. (They both reached -9 by the time they were patched up.)

Once again, the brothel in the town of Stagsfall was nearly destroyed. This time some saboteurs tried to destroy some buildings in the town. Fortunately, the infrastructure the characters had put in place averted disaster.

Noapte had been involved with a local girl named Lily, who had been hinting strongly that he'd make a better ruler (with her by his side as co-ruler, that is.) He suggested to Illiamace, who has now become a duchess with the most recent expansion of claimed lands, that she be considered for a leadership job. Solomon nixed that, citing that the only jobs they had that they might want a new person for she wasn't really suited to. Then he suggested a staff job in the castle, and none of the characters were against that.

However, the way he worded it "try her out" and given his relationship with her, it came out sounding like a sexual innuendo. We got a good chuckle out of that, then were almost rolling on the floor laughing when he said something about "finding a position for her." At any rate, he talked to Lily about a staff job in the castle, which didn't set to well with her and she broke off their relationship.

All is not lost on the romance front, however, as Solomon and Serenity are developing feelings for one another, yet neither has yet admitted it to the other. Solomon doesn't want to risk their friendship if she doesn't reciprocate his feelings, and Serenity is worried about a couple things. 1) That he still sees her as a little girl, and 2) what his reaction will be when he finds out what she really is.

Getting romance from my players is like pulling teeth. :)
