Hey guys, my new blog, Arcane Shield, I give kudos to the fine folks over at Dias Ex Machina[/url] for their awesome product Amethyst and the entertaining pregen adventure Biohazard.

I plan on adding my own homebrew material using the amethyst rules.

Do I have permission to create homebrew content, for free, that references lifepaths, powers, feats, etc. that are in the Amethyst book without reprinting them? And can I also make my own lifepaths, feats, powers, class builds, weapons, etc. using the amethyst techan rules framework?

The legalese is that our original product is closed content with all rules referencing D&D definitions falling under the stipulations of the WOTC GSL. That being said, you can create new weapons and races for Amethyst, just as long as you don't copy and paste entries from the original book....

Of course. That's what I figured was the case, which is fine.

Here's a preview for a new grounder build I'm working on.

Neat ideas. You know we do something similar with Evolutions?

Yes, with essentials. However I don't think its wise to take the design cues from WOTC, in that if there is something a class is lacking it should have, instead of fixing it just make a whole new class and go with that. A lot of us just plain don't like essentials.

There's no reason there can't be a normal defender grounder and an essentials grounder. I play the game with my group, see problems in the rules, and fix them. I offer them free to people in hopes that maybe I can help enhance the game I greatly enjoy and maybe get some freelance work in the future if I'm good enough.

I have to disagree, I feel that the essential's design is perfect for the Techan Classes.

Less powers and more features to me really encompasses more the less magical feel of techan.

Did you actually read the post? Essentials is another style of playing the classes, not inherently better or worse. Many players don't like essentials, don't like Mearls and his path that he's taken 4e. There is no reason why there can't be a normal and an essential defender grounder.

But of course we're still waiting on Evolution and haven't gotten a release date for it or ultramodern, so only time will tell if they've improved from the playtest (which had some serious balance issues)
