Someone posted a question regarding the Improved Area Denial feat. I wanted to clarify that here with a copy/paste

Outside of your turn, you get only one immediate action per round. Opportunity attacks are once per enemy turn.

This means with area denial, where originally, you could only hit one target per use of the power, with the Improved Area Denial feat, you can use the power once per target that enters the zone.

Now, how does this help the essentials grounder?

It doesn't....because the feat is meant to be used with the traditional grounder that doesn't get additional immediate actions with his class. :)

Of course he could...but his area denial allows him to attack someone as an immediate reaction. The Improved Area Denial feat changes it to an opportunity action. The heavy essential grounder gets multiple immediate actions as he progresses through the levels, which allows him to attack the same target multiple times as it moves through the zone of area denial. With the feat, you can attack each target once but not multiples times. It's a trade-off. The traditional grounder doesn't get multiple immediate actions, so he can only attack once target once with area denial.

But it you had both the feat and the multiple immediate actions you could make attacks against multiple creatures and choose to apply multiple hits.

correct me if I am wrong but as it stands the alternate grounder could benefit from this because it would allow that grounder to use area denial as an opportunity attack and then apply the immediate interrupts after the initial OAs.

So unless im mistaken on how it interacts with the alternate grounder it would be one of the best feats for him. It would allow him to use OA's after his IA's were used up.

Edit: I might be reading too deep into it, but with how it is worded "You can make it as an OA instead of and II" to me is saying you can choose. perhaps a stronger wording like "Instead of and IIs your Area Denial uses OAs".

Nah, you can choose. I don't mind. Go right ahead.
