This story was inpired by the Old donloads for Amethyst that were on Serena Dawn. Changed some of the characters around a bit, hope you don't mind.

The Angel stomped toward the core but was sent sideways by Kai as he punched it with the Gauntlet. The Angel curled into a ball and rolled onto its feet before firing a shot at him. Kai punched off the ground and the missile blew a crater in the floor while Jubi began to shoot at it with his rifle but the energy bolts bounced of it reflective armour. Rasho threw a grenade and the Angel covered its head as it exploded, having no effect, then it shot another missile at Jubi. Akio cast a protective aura on Jubi but he was still sent reeling as the shield only absorbed some of the hit.

Kai landed with a thud next to the core as he stood up he noticed flickering in the corner of his eye. He turned and saw that the containment field was beginning to destabilize. There were too many echans near the core.

‘Every body get out we have to let the defence team handle this!’

The Angel turned to Kai, looked at the field, and then before anyone else could do anything the field dropped and the Angel fired a missile into the core. Kai into the missiles path in the hopes shielding the core but he was too late. The missile impacted with the core and then, enraged Kai shot an energy blast putting all his power into the attack and vaporized the Angel in one shot.

‘Everyone out!’ Colonel Emedio shouted as warning sirens began to sound. Chained explosions started erupting inside the core and the surrounding systems as everyone inside the facility tried to evacuate.

Charlie walked up to the checkpoint where he was about to start his shift. Guard duty was the best in Sierra Madre, nothing ever happened, at best you got to watch the beautiful women who walked past the checkpoint. He saw Mack waiting for him outside the checkpoint.

‘Hey Mack. Anything exciting today?’ he shouted.

‘Keep your mouth shut and get over here.’ Mack replied.

Charlie hurried over confused at his friends’ anger.

‘What’s going on?’

‘Didn’t you get the alert call? You were supposed to be here and hour ago.’

‘No. What can I say? I was with a friend if you know what I mean.’

‘Stow the jokes. The alert was priority one. Terrorists are up to something inside the city.’

‘What? How come it wasn’t broadcast to the public?’

‘Who knows? Orders are to stop anyone that passes through checkpoints and check their luggage, no matter who they are.’

‘Well so much for a quite day.’

Charlie was about to walk inside to sign in when they heard a rumbling sound. They both looked around for the source of the noise when a massive explosion burst out of the Column a few kilometers from where they were. Fire engulfed the middle section of the structure and the force of the explosion sent debris crashing out all over the city. A large piece of plating hit a building near the two guards slicing strait down the middle of it.

Secondary explosions burst out of the Column in a vertical line and the street and building lights of the city began to flicker and dim making it seem like Sierra Madre would see its first twilight. The guards watched the Column as the midsection tilted slightly then began to collapse in on the bottom half of the structure.

Charlie’s attention was drawn away as he noticed a large chunk of rubble fall onto a nearby home. It didn’t look like it had come from the Column. He looked up and saw that entire sections of the cavern roof that shield Sierra Madre from the outside world had begun to break away from the centre of the city around the Column. Another large piece broke away a fell to the city floor, then another, then another.

Charlie didn’t see the massive the kilometer wide piece of rock as it broke away from the cavern roof directly above him. The last thing he saw was the top of the column explode and then shattering the roof of Sierra Madre with the massive concussive force bringing the whole thing down.

Tee hee, cool. That brings back memories...and player trauma. This event still occurs by the way, though it may play out differently. Fantastic post. Thanks.
